Weddings bells & business wishes

I am now a married woman. We had an amazing wedding day and awesome honeymoon, which all went by in a flash for me- but explains the absence on my blog! ;)

I am ready to start the ‘new year’ on my photography and look forward to new challenges and new steps for Photo Paige. I say ‘new year’ because I realised this past week, that the first ever photo session I did as a paid session was in May last year… 12 months ago. I didn’t know I would be here now, with the passion I do to grow a business and learn as much as I can about photographing wonderful people. I absolutely love it!

So, you can expect to see more from me again, I have a few shoots coming up, couples, maternity, family, wedding breakfast and hopefully lots lots more! ;)

In the meantime, for fun,  I thought I would give you a glimpse into my life/thoughts at the moment ;)

Today I …

… adore my new black leather boots I bought for winter (should have worn them today!)

… had an idea to do a “one year” promotion giveaway of sorts… should I??

… will start my gym routine again, since I’ve been eating SO well since I got married and not exercising!

… realised that constantly making comparisons will only ever lead to discontentment (let’s see if I remember this thought). Rather, I need to just be inspired.

….wish I could do a Photography Workshop with someone great, like Christine Meintjies in Cape Town!!

… got lost in the beautiful images on a LA wedding photographer’s blog for a while.

… fought the urge to buy a huge chocolate brownie for lunch.
… am thinking up couples poses for next weekend’s session :)
… need to get a bit organised in my study/office to create a great editing environment.

… dream of the lens I will buy this year… (I need to SAVE!!!)

… wonder what is in store for me this year

…feel very hopeful and open to new possibilities.

Thanks for checking in… see you soon! P.x

Graeme & Chantal | married

I had the opportunity to assist the awesome Liza de Beer at a wedding in Port Alfred recently. We had a great time,  the weather was stunning and the couple was so happy, you could just feel the excitement.

Liza has been a source of support and taught me so much in terms of business and I love watching her work. Thanks Liza for all the help. You’re awesome! Thanks also for graciously letting me use these images to build my wedding portfolio! Here are a few of my images.

Jared turns 6!

Jared had a ‘Pirates & princesses’ party, at Logwood Castle. The kids looked great, the venue was awesome… and the rain cleared for the party! The kids got to do horse rides, ride a quad bike (a HUGE hit!) and among all sorts of other playing, they had a treasure hunt (a MUST at a pirates party, obviously).

Jared folks once again made the cake (I saw the cake they made his brother Bryce’s birthday cake last year!)- let me tell you, they’ve got talent. They missed a calling… you must check it out!

Here are a few of my favourites from the day…

And here’s the birthday boy…

Anja & Gregg, expecting no. 2.

It had been raining on Saturday and when I woke up on Sunday at 6am, it was STILL raining. I was feeling a bit bummed, because we had postponed this session once already because of weather… and we were due to meet at 8:30am on this Sunday. Obviously the baby’s due date was getting closer as well, and we had decided that this was the last weekend we would be able to do it. Eeeeek. THEN, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and although it was a bit wet and we had the odd cloudy moments (not a bad thing for me ;) … we did it!

What a beautiful family. This couple is honestly one of the sweetest couples I know. They are so loving and happy and I am so honoured to be asked to take a few images for them to capture this time before they become a family of 4!

Anja is also a graphic designer and is pretty good with her camera as well, so I really wanted to give her some images she would be happy with. I hope that’s the case…. Here are a few from the morning:

IHF | “Beautiful Black & White” March 2012

One of my favourite sites, i heart faces, has started a monthly photo challenge that now has PRIZES attached… yay! :) I enjoy entering these challenges to be a part of the community on the site really… BUT at the same time I wouldn’t mind a little surprise in the bank from them! (a girl can dream, can’t she? ;)

Here is my entry… a sweet image of baby Greer and her ‘mona lisa’ smile! So cute!!

Take a look at some more entries by clicking the button below:

Thanks for looking, Paige.

Liam turns 2!

Liam’s party was on a very windy day in PE, at The Barnyard. It was my first time visiting the location, and what a great one it was! There were all sorts of animals from giant tortoises to horses, and ducks to goats- the kids all get to feed them and it is a huge hit! (*note to self: remember for future reference for when I have children J*)

There were fun things to climb on and in and to ride and slide on, a jumping castle and maybe the highlight may have been the tractor ride that they lined up to go on! Liam ran around laughing (he is such a happy guy!) and I think he had a great birthday party. Here are a few images I took to help document the day:

Sarah’s Matric Dance

Sarah looked beautiful. Really, really beautiful. And she was so very excited about her dance leading up to it! :D and who wouldn’t be? She asked me to come and take photos of her and her family, in a beachfront apartment… on my house moving day! Eek. I was so worried about being all dirty and tired, but when I got there, despite the weather being cloudy and slight drizzle of rain- she was thrilled and I just fed off that ;) and became excited for her too. Then we went outside to try get some photos in the surrounding area. Think we did a great job! Take a look at her formal images…
